Who we are (and why we couldn't just leave Facebook alone)
There's something almost poetic about the stubbornness of Facebook's default interface. Gray. White. That relentless blue. It's been there since 2004, aging like a reliable but slightly boring relative at Christmas dinner. We noticed. We did something about it.
ColorMyFacebook was born from a simple, slightly obsessive conviction: your digital presence deserves the same creative attention you give to what you wear, how you decorate your apartment, or the filter you agonize over before posting a photo. The profile is you. It should feel like you.
The mission, stated without pretension
We are not here to revolutionize social media. That word gets thrown around so casually it has lost all meaning. What we are here to do is far more intimate: to give individuals the tools to make one corner of the internet genuinely, visibly, unmistakably theirs.
Our mission is straightforward: make Facebook profile customization accessible, beautiful, and personal. No coding degree required. No design portfolio needed. Just your taste, your mood, and a few minutes on a Tuesday afternoon.
The belief beneath the interface
We believe visual identity isn't a luxury reserved for brands and celebrities. Every person scrolling through a feed at midnight has a personality worth expressing. ColorMyFacebook exists to close the gap between who you are and how your profile currently represents you.
It sounds modest. It isn't, really.
What we actually do
ColorMyFacebook offers a toolkit for transforming the visual experience of your Facebook presence: custom color themes, aesthetic overlays, profile frame generators, and layout styling options that work within the platform's existing architecture.
We obsess over details the way a good tailor obsesses over a seam. The shade of a background isn't just a shade. It's a mood, a statement, a quiet signal to anyone who visits your page.
A platform built on taste, not just technology
The tools matter less than the thinking behind them. Our design philosophy draws from the same well as good editorial photography or considered interior design: restraint where restraint is elegant, boldness where boldness earns its keep.
We update our theme libraries regularly, watching visual culture shift across fashion seasons and art movements. When dusty rose has its moment, we notice. When brutalist minimalism becomes the mood of the internet, we're already there.
The people behind the palette
ColorMyFacebook was built by a small team with disproportionately strong opinions about fonts, an unhealthy attachment to color theory, and genuine frustration with the idea that social media profiles should look like government forms.
We come from graphic design, front-end development, and digital culture, which is a fancy way of saying we spend a lot of time on the internet and have developed strong feelings about it.
Why small teams build better products
Smaller teams make better aesthetic products. Decisions don't get diluted by twelve rounds of committee review. When someone on the team says "that green is wrong," we change the green that afternoon. This agility shows up in the product.
We work fast, we care deeply, and we genuinely use what we build.
Our commitment to you
Customization tools live or die by trust. You're giving us your creative intention, the vague, specific feeling of I want my profile to look like this, and we're responsible for turning it into something real.
That responsibility comes with commitments. We don't sell your data. We don't clutter the experience with aggressive advertising. We don't push features that exist only to justify their own existence.
Simplicity is a design decision
Every interface choice on ColorMyFacebook is made with one question in mind: does this make the user's life easier, or does it just make our product look more impressive? That question has quietly killed more features than we've ever shipped.
Good design is the absence of noise. We're allergic to noise.
The larger picture we're part of
Personal expression online is having a long overdue, slightly chaotic, very welcome moment. After years of algorithmic homogenization, people are pushing back against the idea that their digital life should look exactly like everyone else's.
Myspace was mocked for its glittery chaos, then quietly celebrated for allowing exactly that kind of wildness. The internet remembered something important: people want to express themselves. They just need permission and a decent set of tools.
ColorMyFacebook is both the permission and the toolkit.
Where we're going
The roadmap includes deeper customization layers, a community gallery where users can share and discover themes, and collaborative tools for group pages and events. The profile you see today is only one chapter.
We're building something that grows with you, because your aesthetic in January is rarely your aesthetic in October, and that's precisely how it should be.
Your profile is not a document. It's a living thing. We're here to help it breathe.
